Steeper Penalty For Littering In Marion

If you litter in Marion you will now pay a slightly steeper penalty. An ordinance was passed by the Marion City Council. The ordinance is meant to crack down on scrap tires which have become a problem in the city. Tires are now included in the definition of litter. The city code says no person shall store, place or allow to remain any tire or tires not mounted on a motor vehicle, bicycle or trailer outside of a permitted structure located within a residential zone district." Ohio law already makes it illegal to stockpile scrap tires outside on the ground.
