Marion – Troopers from the Marion Post are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on June 9, 2022, at approximately 06:57 AM on State Route 739 in Marion County.
The crash involved a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Jeffrey R. Hixson, age 65, of Marion, Ohio. Mr. Hixson was traveling westbound on State Route 739. His vehicle traveled off the south side of the roadway, where it struck a mailbox, traffic sign and embankment before overturning into a utility pole. Mr. Hixson’s vehicle subsequently caught fire
Mr. Hixson was pronounced deceased on scene by the Marion County Coroner’s Office. Mr. Hixson was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Marion Township Fire and EMS, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Marion County Coroner’s Office and Buckeye Collision Towing.
