The Star Players, Inc. in Upper Sandusky, Ohio will present their upcoming summer musical production, The SpongeBob Musical, July 14, 15, 21, 22 at 7:30 p.m. and July 16 and 23 at 2 p.m. at The Star Theatre, 121 W. Wyandot Avenue, Upper Sandusky, Ohio.
Tickets for this year's summer musical production are available online through EventBrite links on starplayers.net. Tickets are $17 for members, $20 for non-members. Tickets will also be on sale at the door the evening of each production beginning at 7 p.m.
The SpongeBob Musical production team is led by Director/Music Director Payton Luikart, Assistant Director Wayne Rowe, Choreographers Sarah Stalter and Angela Masara, Stage Manager Ana Wank, Lighting Design Gary McCreary, Spotlight 1 Ruth McCreary, Spotlight 2 Tori Carter, Sound Engineer Brynn Whitcomb, Set Design Payton Luikart, Ana Wank, and Becky Wank.
The title role of SpongeBob SquarePants will be played by Ethan Korte of Upper Sandusky. Other supporting roles include Wayne Rowe as Patrick Star, Makenna Fox as Sandy Cheeks, Mackenzi Thompson as Squidward Q. Tentacles, Paris Sayler as Sheldon J. Plankton, Eric Julian (EJ) Walker as Eugene H. Krabs, Reagan Rowe as Pearl Krabs, Trish McClellan as Karen The Computer Wife, Drew McClellan as Perch Perkins, Payton Luikart as Patchy the Pirate, Jodi Salyer as The Mayor of Bikini Bottom, Lori Wygal as Mrs.Puff, Connor Swartz as Old Man Jenkins, Braxton Swartz as Larry the Lobster, Cole Hermiller as Johnny the Bartender, Heather Shoffner as Buster BlueTang, Ardyn North as Security Guard 1, Judy Tong as Security Guard 2, and Heather Shoffner, Molly Smith, and Liberty Davis as The Electric Skates. Chorus members include Emma Boden, Addyson Hoffman, Hope Korte, Greer Kraus, Grady Laverich, Micha Miller, Jackson Moore, Madilyn Pagnard, Leah Pneuman, Emma Shumaker, and Audrey Smith.
The SpongeBob Musical plunges into a stunning all-singing, all-dancing, dynamic stage show. When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble home, SpongeBob and his friends must come together to save the fate of their undersea world. With lives hanging in the balance and all hope lost, a most unexpected hero rises. The power of optimism really can save the world!
The SpongeBob Musical is based on the beloved animated series created by Stephen Hillenburg and features a book by Kyle Jarrow, with original songs by Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alexander Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, Lady A, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants and T.I., and songs by David Bowie, Tom Kenny and Andy Paley. Additional lyrics are by Jonathan Coulton, with additional music by Tom Kitt. The musical production was conceived by Tina Landau.
