Tonight, the Northern Kentucky University men’s basketball team squares off against Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament. Number-2 seed Kentucky, of course, is a powerhouse and expected to challenge for the championship. Northern Kentucky is a #15 seed – and is lucky to even be a part of the post-season.
Well, if Northern Kentucky pulls the upset and beats Kentucky, the owner of a restaurant has promised free steaks to every single student attending Northern Kentucky. For those of you keeping score at home, that’s 15,000 steaks.
While it won’t be easy for Northern Kentucky to pull this off, it’s not impossible. A 15-seed has knocked off a 2-seed eight times since the NCAA Tournament field expanded to 64 teams in 1985.
So you might want to root for the underdog here – if only for the sake of the starving students at Northern Kentucky. (ABC News)
