Women Of Country Music Opening 2019 CMA Awards With Historic Performance

Some of country music's most iconic female singers will unite for a "historic, not-to-be-missed" opening performance at the 53rd Annual CMA Awards on November 13.

Carrie Underwood will join her co-hosts, Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton to lead a female power packed performance that will also include Terri Clark, Sara Evans, Crystal Gayle, The Highwomen (composed of Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby, Maren Morris and Amanda Shires), Martina McBride, Jennifer Nettles, Tanya Tucker and Gretchen Wilson. Each artist will sing part of a country classic in a medley that will span decades.

The CMA Awards will also feature special performances from Kelsea Ballerini with Lindsay Ell, Maddie & Tae, Ashley McBryde, Carly Pearce and Runaway June. They will join together for an "iconic performance of an iconic CMA Song of the Year and CMA Single of the Year featuring a special appearance by Little Big Town. This is expected to be one of the "night's most talked-about performances."

Previously announced collaborations include a performance from Garth Brooks and Blake Shelton, Brooks & Dunn with Brothers Osborne, Dan + Shay, Kacey Musgraves with Willie Nelson, Lady Antebellum and Halsey. Additionally, Eric Church and Luke Combs will perform during the awards along with Old Dominion, Thomas Rhett, Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, Pink and Chris Stapleton. Dolly Parton will also join For King & Country and Zach Williams for a gospel medley of "God Only Knows," "There Was Jesus" and "Faith."

The Country Music Association is using this year's event to spotlight the genre's iconic women. The CMA Awards will broadcast live from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Wednesday, November 13 at 8 p.m. ET.
