Troopers Investigating a Serious Injury Crash in Downtown Marion

Marion – Troopers from the Marion Post are investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on June 12, 2021, at approximately 11:02 PM at the intersection of Main Street and Church Street in the City of Marion, Ohio.

The crash involved a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by Donya R. Holt, age 35, of Marion, Ohio, and a 2010 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Jacob K. Geyer, age 24, of Lewis Center, Ohio. Mr. Geyer was traveling eastbound on Church Street. Ms. Holt was traveling southbound on Main Street, failed to yield at the red traffic light, entered the intersection, and was struck by the Jeep. The Chevrolet traveled off the south side of Church Street striking the curb and building. The Jeep overturned and came to rest in the northbound lanes of Main Street.

Ms. Holt was transported from the scene by Marion City EMS to the Marion General Hospital. She was then flown by MedFlight to the Grant Medical Center with serious injuries. Mr. Geyer was transported by Marion City EMS to the Marion General Hospital with minor injuries.

Ms. Holt was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Marion City Police Department, Marion City Fire and EMS, and Ed’s 24 Hour Service.

This crash remains under investigation.
