MARION – Troopers from the Marion Post are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on June 25, 2021 at approximately 6:38 pm on Marion-Williamsport Road at State Route 309 in Marion, Ohio.
The crash involved a 2003 Ford Explorer driven by Albino Morales, 41, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio. The front passenger of the Ford was Ma Luisa Morales, 44, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio. The second vehicle involved was a 2018 Freightliner semi tractor-trailer driven by Lesmy Olizia, 30, of Orlando, Florida.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the Ford was eastbound on State Route 309. The Freightliner was northbound on Marion-Williamsport Road. The Freightliner failed to yield for a stop sign and was struck by the Ford. Both vehicles came to final rest on Marion-Williamsport north of State Route 309.
Mr. Olizia did not sustain any injuries at the time of the crash. Mr. Morales sustained non-life threatening injuries. Mrs. Morales was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Marion County Coroner Dr. Mark Davis.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Marion County Sheriff Department, Marion Township Fire & EMS and the Marion County Coroner’s Office. The crash remains under investigation
