Beyoncé didn't hold back her reaction to winning the Grammy award for Best Country Album.
On Sunday (February 2), Bey's groundbreaking Cowboy Carter was awarded Best Country Album at the 2025 Grammys.
Bey, who won her first country Grammy earlier in the night for "II Most Wanted," her Cowboy Carter collaboration with Miley Cyrus, was clearly surprised that she beat out the likes of Kacey Musgraves, Lainey Wilson, Post Malone, and Chris Stapleton for the genre's Best Album award.

Taylor Swift presented the award to Bey, who is now the first Black female artist to win Best Country Album.
“I was not expecting this,” Beyoncé said during her acceptance speech. “I want to thank God that I’m able to still do what I love after so many years, oh, my God! I’d like to thank all of the incredible country artists that accepted this, this album we worked so hard on… I think sometimes genre is a code word to keep us in our place as artists, and just want to encourage people to do what they’re passionate about. And to stay persistent.”
Ahead of the Grammys, Beyoncé earned 11 total nominations, four of which were nods in country categories. Bey was beat out for Best Country Song (“Texas Hold ‘Em”) and Best Country Solo Performance (“16 Carriages”) by Musgraves and Stapleton, respectively. However, Bey's Grammys for Best Country Album and Best Country/Duo Performance (II Most Wanted) made her the first Black woman to win a Grammy in any of the genre's categories in more than 50 years.
