"Early Sunday morning, Marion Police responded to reports of shots fired at the OK Cafe. Officers identified the suspect as Jared Scheck, age 30 of Marion, and tracked him to his residence where he confronted officers and fired at them. A Marion officer and a Sheriff's Deputy returned fire, striking Scheck multiple times. Officers gave Scheck first aid, and he was transported first to Marion General Hospital and then life flighted to Columbus where he is expected to survive.

BCI has been called to investigate the officer-involved shooting.

We're thankful that no officers were injured during the incident, which serves as a reminder of the danger police officers face each and every day."
