According to a Fox News report, injured Bills safety Damar Hamlin has been released from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center just one week after collapsing on the football field on Monday Night Football.

From Fox News:

Dr. William A. Knight told reporters that he accompanied Hamlin to the airport on Monday morning, adding that the second-year safety was “doing well” and is in the “beginning of the next stage of his recovery.”
“We shared last time that we were with you that our ultimate goal was to get Damar back home to his amazing family and broader Buffalo family. Well, Dr. [Timothy] Pritts and I are thrilled and proud on behalf of UC to report to you that Damar Hamlin has been released and returned back to Buffalo,” Dr. Knight said.

Hamlin released a brief message on Twitter, confirming he is back in Buffalo.

“Grateful for the awesome care I received at UCMC. Happy to be back in Buffalo. The docs and nurses at Buffalo General have already made me feel at home!”

Doctors said Hamlin has been walking since Friday, and eating regular food and undergoing therapy.

They said he was on a normal or even accelerated trajectory in his recovery from cardiac arrest, which is considered a life-threatening event.

“We continue to be ecstatic about his recovery,” Dr Timothy Pritts said.

The entire NFL Community was showing support for Damar on Sunday when the NFL played out week 18. The Buffalo Bill ran back the opening kick-off exactly 3 years and 3 months after the last returned kick for the team and beat The Patriots 35-23.
